The goal of the YWPA award is to encourage women students to enter careers in public affairs, public policy, and community organizations. The award recognizes the commitment of pre-university women students, aged 16 to 19 years, to serve their communities and to advance the status of women worldwide.

This award is granted annually by the Zonta Club of St. Catharines. Students attending high school in Beamsville, Grimsby, Lincoln, St. Catharines and Thorold are welcome to apply.

The local club award winner then becomes a candidate for the District award. The District 4 winner receives $1,000 U.S. and the opportunity to compete for one of ten Zonta International awards of $4,000 U.S. Since 1993, the following three club winners have won the District award and one International:
2000 Phoebe Smith
2006 Lyndsay Crump (also an International winner)
2014 Christina Weber

Applications are available at secondary school guidance departments.

Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship

Diana Chan is the recipient of the 2017 Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship. Diana is a student at the Goodman School of Business at Brock University in her third year of a dual degree programme in Business Administration and Global Business.

The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship helps women pursuing a business undergraduate or master’s degree who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field.

Value of local award: $500
Application deadline: June 1st
Applications are available by email request using the “CONTACT US” tab found on our webpage menu or online at Zonta International – Jane M. Klausman Women In Business Scholarship.

The local club winner becomes a candidate for the District 4 scholarship valued at $1000 U.S. The District scholarship winner then becomes a candidate for the Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship. Twelve international scholarships are granted annually valued at $7,000 U.S. each.
